Production sites in Bremen

As a family owned and operated business we mostly rely on our two main sites, located in the Bremen-Walle/-Gröpelingen and Östliche Vorstadt districts. During high season or on special occasions, we may also switch production to our "emergency sites" in Hemelingen and to the north of Bremen.
We chose our main sites due to the rich vegetation and proximity to our family home. Especially our Östliche Vorstadt site has a constant change of blooming vegetation, leading to an almost year-round feast for our bees. Even though it may come as a surprise, the small lots and gardens provide optimal nourishment for our Hives and excellent honey with a rich taste.
Because our Hives are right next to our Home, we can even give you a small tour of our hives. This is only possible with prior notification though, as we do not want to disturb the bees. A map of our location and directions are accessible on ourlocation page or on Google Maps.
Our Walle/Gröpelingen location on the other hand is sorrounded by small lots and no houses, with vegetation mainly consisting of apple and linden trees, many bushes and flowers, though our bees especially favor linden.
Currently, Walle/Gröpelingen houses 6 of our hives while Östliche Vorstadt houses 5.

Best practices

The correct handling of bees is incredibly important. We not only uphold all our legal obligations of the Lebensmittelgesetz and the strict regulations of the German Beekeping Association(DIB), but try to go beyond, producing quality honey and keeping healthy bees. We do not use any unneccessary treatments for our bees and none at all for our honey. Necessary treatments include Oxalic acid and Formic acid. Both are necessary for our bees welfare, as they aim to eliminate the Varroa mite, and are only applied after the honey is collecte, so that no rediues remain in the finished product.
If possible, we also follow the Guidelines for treating Varroa in Organic Beekeeping.
Except for these two treatments, our bees are not treated with anything and only fed with pure sugar in the winter, which does not affect our honey.
Only because of this, we can ensure that our honey is free of additives, residues and harmful chemicals.

Training

We completed our beekeping training at the Landesverband der Imker Weser-Ems e.V.. All of us are trained Beekeepers, educated in everything necessary for running our Honey Farm. During our training, we were also awarded certificates, allowing us to sell Honey under the DIB-label.
We further educated ourselves by working with the Bremer Bienenkönig(Verbatim: Bremen's Bee King) and other experienced Beekepers.
